The Possimpible

Clean Eating Comfort Food. Impossible scenario? Not at Eat Clean Live Green!

You should know that my husband loves ribs. And while he has an amazing metabolism and 5% body fat… I don’t. So when I saw a recipe for Clean Eating Ribs in the Clean Eating magazine, it seemed like potential for a ‘best of both worlds’ scenario: Ribs that would taste good and fit in with a healthy lifestyle. The possimpible!*

The ingredient list is incredibly simple. It’s only outdone by the easy preparation.

Eat Clean ‘Ribs’

adapted from Clean Eating Magazine

Ingredients

  • 1.25 pounds lean pork, such as tenderloin or sirloin (I used free-range sirloin steaks)
  • 1/3 cup barbeque sauce (I used Organicville BBQ sauce, it’s sweetened with agave)
  • salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Slice pork into 1/2” x 3” sections. (Approximately).
  2. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a bowl, cover pork with barbeque sauce.
  4. Cover bowl, and refrigerate overnight.
  5. Preheat broiler.
  6. Place pork on a cookie sheet, leaving some room between each ‘rib’.
  7. Cook pork under the broiler for 5 minutes. Turn each rib over and repeat.

Serve with extra barbeque sauce for dipping.

Add corn on the cob and baked sweet potato fries, and you’ve got a Clean Eating meal even a strictly meat + potatoes would love.

*If you don’t know what possimpible means, you must learn what happens when the possible and the impossible meet. :)

The key must be your choice of bbq sauce. Because most of them are sugar sugar sugar!

Morgan, you’re absolutely right – the BBQ sauce makes all the difference! This Organicville stuff was pretty good – it was $5 at Superstore, which was pricy, but had much more appealing ingredients than: glucose/fructose + hickory flavor :)
