How is it Tuesday already? I feel like the long weekend just flew by!
But if it really is Tuesday, that means it’s Tree Hugger Tuesday here at Eat Clean Live Green!
Today I’m reviewing a Live Green friendly company: Nature’s Path. There’s a giveaway too!
A few weeks ago, Nature’s Path sent me an assortment of cereals and bars to try out. Nature’s Path is a family run, organic company. They pride themselves as being focused on environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and being a top producer of organic and gluten-free products!

Why is Nature’s Path Live Green friendly? They are committed to sustainability:
We source our ingredients from organic farms, we’re buying up farmland and converting it to organic, and we’re trying to run our business with the health of the soil in mind at every step. Meanwhile, we’ve reduced the amount of paper in our packages, we compost like crazy, and even have an experimental green roof at our headquarters. We’re on the path to being zero-waste certified by 2010, and completely carbon neutral by 2020. Plus, Nature’s Path was one of the first companies to sign onto the Declaration of Sustainability.
Nature’s Path chooses non-toxic soy-based inks on all paperboard packaging. Vegetable inks are easier to recycle and better for the environment.
As of Fall 2004, we’ve reduced the box size of our flaked cereals by 10% saving on unnecessary packaging waste. In 2007 we rolled out the EnviroBox™ to the rest of its cereal products. The amount of cereal doesn’t change, just the amount of wasted box space. And as of 2009, we’ve lightened the weight of the our cereal boxes, saving an additional 186 tons of paperboard per year.
Our EnviroKidz™ EnviroFund has raised nearly $1 Million for endangered species and environments since the launch of the EnviroKidz brand! In 2000, Nature’s Path started collecting one percent of sales from all EnviroKidz™ organic products and placed the money in an EnviroFund. The EnviroFund is distributed annually to endangered species, habitat conservation and environmental education for kids. In 2004, EnviroKidz broke its annual record with nearly $73,000 raised bringing the total amount provided to wildlife conservation to nearly $300,000 since 2000.
Pretty impressive! Nature’s Path is a company you can feel good about purchasing.
But how does it taste? Many organic/healthy cereals taste like cardboard – but not these:

By the way, these pictures officially make me a crazy lady. The light in my kitchen sucks, so I took my cereal outside in the snow to photograph. Crazy.
Anyways, first up: Organic Flax Plus Pumpkin Raisin Crunch.
I added half a banana, and milk and it was delicious! Similar to raisin bran, but not so sweet. Very crunchy and very filling.
I love the Envirobox: same amount of cereal, 10% less packaging! Very Live Green.
Plus, Nature’s Path describes things with the word goodness. It’s just goodness. Awesome
I also really enjoyed the Pumpkin Flax Granola: you can read my review here.

Grant and I both enjoy the Optimum Energy Bar: Blueberry Flax and Soy. At ~200 calories it’s excellent for a mid-morning or afternoon snack. Again, it’s not overly sweet, but just enough. You can definitely taste the blueberries – no simulated flavour here! Very filling.
And it has swirly icing. Which is super cute.
But the star of the show is the Organic and Gluten Free Crunchy Maple Sunrise.
It tasted like a super crunchy, and much healthier bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It’s not on shelves until November, but I’ll definitely be buying some when I find it!
Overall, I’m so glad I tried Nature’s Path products – the taste is amazing, and the company is Live Green friendly!
