French Fry Goodness

Can anyone honestly tell me they don’t love French Fries?

Did you know that it’s actually really easy to make French Fries at home? And even without the deep-fried crunch and calories, they’re still a delicious side dish!

Slice 4 medium potatoes into thin slices (about 1/2 inch cross section). Top with 1 tbsp canola oil, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1 tsp paprika.

And the ingredient that makes these so much more than just thinly sliced roasted potatoes – 1 tbsp ranch dressing mix. (Look for one without hydrogenated oils! I used Simply Organic Ranch Dressing mix, found in the natural food section of my grocery store)

Mix the potatoes, oil and spices together and spread out on a baking sheet, sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Cook at 400* for 15-20 minutes, until potatoes are crisp.

Could it be any simpler? 5 ingredients. 20 minutes. Voila! French Fries that are made from real foods – you know what you’re eating and you know it’s good for you :)

You will not be disappointed these French Fries aren’t from McDonald’s! The spice combination makes gives a really awesome flavour, not too strong, but slightly sweet, slightly salty. The high heat helps the potatoes to crisp up beautifully.

I make sweet potato fries all the time, similar to this, trying different spices each time. I actually don’t ever order fries at a restaurant anymore cause the white potatoes make my sugar levels go nuts! Thanks for this great recipe!
